We’re looking for our latest intake of graduates to join our Audit graduate programme in September 2017.
Group Internal Audit’s role is to help Nationwide’s Board and Executive Management to protect the assets, reputation and sustainability of the business.
We assess and report on the effectiveness of the design and operation of the framework of governance, risk management and internal controls to monitor, manage and mitigate key risks across the entire business.
From this 2 year programme you’ll have a unique opportunity to gain exposure to all areas of our business – from audits of Treasury, Finance & IT, to Savings, Distribution & Lending; it’s an unparalleled chance to start your career with the UK’s largest building society. Alongside developing your key skills within Group Internal Audit, you’ll also have plenty of opportunities to challenge yourself and really add value to the business from day 1.
Alongside our award winning development programme, successful applicants will be offered a permanent contract, a starting salary of £28,000 a year, plus an annual bonus based on performance.
You’ll primarily be based in our Swindon Head Office, don’t worry we help with relocation if needed.

As a minimum requirement you’ll need to be:

- On track to gain a 2.1 degree in any subject that you’ve studied, or have a minimum 2.1 degree already

We’ll consider it a bonus if you also have commercial awareness and the ability to assess risk.
What you'll be doing
Regularly working with teams and senior staff, you’ll be confident building and maintaining relationships. If you see something that can be improved, you’ll be comfortable making suggestions that will make a real difference to keep pushing us forward. You’ll be working on real projects that will impact our members, so commercial acumen and an ability to assess risk are both important.
You’ll experience every stage of an audit, including identifying areas of risk, ensuring what proposed solutions will mitigate key risks & reviewing these solutions to ensure effectiveness. This is a challenging but varied role where you get the opportunity to learn about a variety of Business areas and interact with senior management within the areas you’ll be working with.
You could find yourself working in customer-facing functions, product development, shared services and the programmes delivering change to our business.
