Assistant to the Head of Department
We are looking for a self-motivated, reliable and well-organised person to provide confidential secretarial and administrative service to the Head of Department supporting their roles in the University both within and outside the Department, as well as nationally and internationally. The role also supports all aspects of Graduate student administration, supporting the Chair of the departmental Graduate Education Committee and is responsible for the management of the Reception office and associated staff.
You should be qualified to at least A level or equivalent, with GCSE level passes in Maths and English and be highly competent in standard software packages, e.g. Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and knowledge of Virtual Learning Environments (Moodle) is preferred. Experience of the University and its online administrative systems such as CamSIS would be an advantage but not essential.
You will have a high degree of initiative. Previous secretarial or administrative experience, staff management, sound written and communication skills and the ability to organise and work well under pressure are essential as is the ability to exercise tact, diplomacy and confidentiality in communications with all stakeholders.
We hope to hold interviews during the latter part of the week commencing 24th October 2016.
