Job Role:

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Buyer to join the Furniture team which is a key growth area for the business. You will be working as part of a team to develop our Furniture profile on the High Street.

You will be currently operating within Homewares buying; ideally with a Furniture buying background. Applicants will be looking for a fresh challenge and the opportunity to join a strong high street retailer who is consistently gaining market share.

Within this role you will be  working closely with the Buying Manager throughout the full buying process including the continued development of the full ranges, using your strong commercial acumen with the aim of maximising sales and increasing profit potential.

You will also be required to negotiate with key suppliers to ensure that the diverse merchandise mix can succeed in a very competitive arena, as well as communicating effectively with the Merchandising colleagues on a daily basis. 

Candidate requirements:

You must be passionate about developing product and understand the importance of brand identity, be trend aware, display strong commercial acumen and possess strong communication and negotiation skills.  You’ll have an eye for detail and have strong presentation skills. Furniture experience is preferred.

Experience of managing more junior members of the team would be beneficial.
