Join us as an Apprentice and you will learn new skills and gain qualifications while working. At the end of your Apprenticeship, which will take between 8 and 12 months, you will gain a qualification worth 5 good GSCEs. You’ll become part of a crew, or a team, that works together to provide the best quick service, family restaurant experience – by far. If you’ve visited one of our restaurants before, you’ve probably got some idea of what’s involved in working here. But you might not realise the variety and scope of the role. Specific responsibilities that involve serving customers include working behind the counter on the till and being out in the dining areas looking after our customers' needs. As an Apprentice, you will complete a mixture of on and off the job training which will start with you completing maths and English GSCE equivalents online, if you don’t already have these. Your time in the restaurant will be spent completing a National Vocational Qualification and Key Skills. Throughout your time as an apprentice you will be supported by a crew trainer who will structure your training, assess your progress and generally support you through the programme. The McDonald’s Crew Apprenticeship Programme fulfils the requirements of “Raising the Participation Age” – a change in the law that means that young people in England and Wales must stay in Education or accredited work based training until the end of the school year in which they turn 17. A franchised restaurant is a restaurant operated by a local business person trading under the McDonald’s name. Currently over half of our restaurants in the UK are franchised but from a customer point of view there’s no difference. For employees there will be minor differences between a company and a franchised restaurant. Please refer to additional information for more details.
Requirements :
Quite simply, you’ll be working in our fast moving, high energy environment and we’re looking for a genuine smile plus an ability to connect with customers and make them feel valued. Apprenticeships are challenging and there is an element of commitment expected from you. You will need to be prepared to commit to one year of training and further study and show a keenness to work and learn. To get a sought after Apprenticeship place, you’ll have to show you are dedicated, and aware of your responsibilities to both yourself and McDonald’s. You also need to be happy to work as both part of a team and individually, and be able to use your own initiative.
Attributes :
To join us as a Crew Member you’ll need to be confident in approaching and dealing with diverse groups of people. Friendly, courteous and helpful behaviour will come naturally to you and you’ll work well as part of a team. Effective communication skills are a must-have, including skills like attentive listening, face-to-face verbal communication and eye contact. You’ll also need to understand the importance of maintaining high standards of quality and service as well as cleanliness. The ability to maintain high energy levels whilst working both efficiently and productively is essential. Finally, your appearance should be smart and clean.
