Administrative Officer

The Student Registry, which is part of the Academic Division, has a broad remit, providing administrative services to students at every stage of their student journey (from admission to exams and assessment to graduation), and to staff and third parties.

As Deputy Head, you will actively support the Head of Records and Exams and the Head of the Student Registry to deliver University examinations and to drive forward improvements in our business processes and service delivery. This critical, high-profile and high-volume work demands meticulous planning and execution. Examinations occur every month except August; in 2015/16 there were over 66,000 candidatures sitting examinations across over 30 venues around the University estate and in externally hired venues.

As the lead and key contact for examinations, you will have responsibility for overseeing all stages including the exam enrolment process, operational preparation and delivery, advising College and Departmental staff on procedures, overseeing the process for requests for mitigating circumstances and running the Exam Office during the main exam season.

Additionally, you will manage two staff that have examination-related responsibilities, including timetabling and applications for mitigating circumstances.

Educated to degree level or with equivalent experience, you will be able to lead, motivate and organise others, demonstrate excellent organisational skills, and have the ability to work under pressure with a high-volume and complex workload. You should also be self-motivated yet collaborative, influential and able to foster positive working relationships. You will have demonstrable experience of effective team leadership, and the experience and ability to identify and drive improvements.
