Administrative Assistant
A vacancy has arisen in the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages for an Administrative Assistant. This is a key 'front-of-house' role for an organised and customer-focused individual, providing administrative and clerical support to the Faculty Office team and dealing with a wide range of enquiries by phone, email and in person.
The Administrative Assistant is the first point of contact for all staff, students and visitors coming into the Faculty. The role holder is required to be organised, well presented and a clear communicator. The Administrative Assistant also provides administrative support for the Faculty Office and associated departments, including such duties as photocopying and circulating papers for committee meetings, sending out general circulars to staff and students, updating the Faculty's web pages and preparing drinks and refreshments for staff meetings.
Candidates must be educated to GCSE level (including English and Mathematics), be fully competent in using the MS Office suite, email packages and the internet. Knowledge of web editing software and experience of updating web pages is desirable. Candidates will have good oral and written communication skills, with a pleasant and helpful manner both on the telephone and face to face. Previous experience in an administrative/clerical role would normally be required, and previous front line office or reception experience would be an advantage. This is a full time post (36.5 hours per week). Salary for this post will be in the range of 16,357 - £18,734 per annum (points 19 to 24). Salary will normally rise annually by one point every July. The post is subject to the satisfactory completion of a probationary period of three months. The post is pensionable, and is based in the city of Cambridge.
