Vacancy Description - PALLET STEERING
Description
The purpose of this role is to ensure an optimal flow of returnable production pallets through the empty handling processes at the plant and back to the supplier base which in turn supports the overall material flow process towards the plant and production requirement. This must be done at minimum cost and disruption to the extended business.
*Analyses and resolves problems and incidents in the supply chain back to the supply base. Aim to avoid disruption to production and support the departmental targets - performing root cause analysis in order to avoid future issue. Negotiates solutions with other areas and service providers and uses own judgement to make decision on when a situation requires escalation.
*Communicates relevant information and Management Information to/from service providers and team to ensure Associates /service provider are informed and working to correct objectives.
*Demonstrates authority and assertiveness in team/service provider meetings, giving clear instructions and guidance where applicable. Ensure performance is to a high standard and the team comply with business standards / requirements Provide encouragement to continually improve working processes.
*Provides advice, direction and support to service providers (in and outside team) - with a full understanding of process development and service provider change request procedures. Promotes and ensures effective work practise and improved methodology in all supply chain/service provider business requirements.
*Plan day to day utilisation of resource and manpower, working within
*Document and record relevant business information (e.g. steers and loading orders for financial audit) to ensure accurate information is recorded in line with business requirements. (e.g. SAP bookings, accident reporting etc).
*Achieve results through monitoring and measuring service provider KPIs to ensure that production and internal targets are met and that product is produced to the highest possible standards.
*Support and analyse pallet audits to ensure all assets are accounted for and the supply chain is capable.
Qualifications and Experience
*Must be technically competent.
*Understanding of logistical/service provider processes.
*Wide knowledge of all quality issues and processes in their area.
*Good communicator - ability to deliver clear, concise and convincing information to Management team.
*Able to control service provider/customer relationships.
*Team player.
*Able to motivate and co-ordinate people.
*Knowledge of health, safety and environmental standards
*Knowledge of health and safety processes and procedures.
*Strong IT skills (familiar with SAP (stard), BHM, Leguste, Verpla, ABO,
*Microsoft Office applications etc)
*Understanding of service provider contracts, including hauliers.
*Financial acumen.
*HNC or equivalent, whilst desirable is not essential
